Canada is about to Legalize Cannabis

Well that’s Canada about to legalize cannabis, good on them.

I’m beginning to think Britain will be the last stubborn domino to fall, I mean people in our parliament still wear wigs from the Georgian times, the UK doesn’t like change & they like the old fashioned authoritarianism our lot do.

If I could afford to, which will never happen unless I win the lottery or something, which kind of makes this an irrelevant rant, but if I could, and I had the dosh to support myself. I think I would probably leave the UK and move to either Canada or Colorado.

I’m sick of this stupid war on drugs, that criminalizes people for using a herb. It’s a flipping plant, it’s never killed anyone in 5000 years of human use, it has lots of medicinal properties, and yeah it gets people high, but so what? Why is it a crime for people to get high? What’s the big deal anyway, especially if it causes no physical harm.

Alcohol gets people high, not a particularly pleasant high, granted, but it’s still a high; and we don’t have a problem with that, alcohol can kill you if you have too much, it can send you to hospital and can cause violent behaviour. None of that happens if you take too much cannabis.

The UK government should at least legalize it’s use for medical reasons. The amount of people suffering from so many different illnesses that this plant has helped shouldn’t be ignored. It’s just stupid politics now and possibly lobbying by the alcohol and pharmaceutical industry.

I think denying sick people the use of a herb which helps them feel better & making them criminals for using it; is just cruel & I think it goes against our human rights.

But this rant does nothing to change that, Britain seems to like it’s hateful authoritarian crap, & I don’t see that changing anytime soon. it will probably be the last country in the world to see sense on this issue, at least while this lot of MPs are in charge and newspapers like the Daily Mail still influence public opinion.

While this stupid war against a plant continues, many people, particularly sick people will continue to be criminalized for using an ancient herbal remedy that hurts noone and can help many people feel relief from many different illnesses… and if it gets them a bit high, so what? It’s not like being ill is much fun, what’s the big deal if they have a psychedelic experience? Sure beats the hell out of feeling sorry for yourself, feeling miserable and being in pain.

It’s a Plant

It’s good that some police chiefs are speaking out in support of legalizing cannabis. The argument that cannabis causes psychosis, doesn’t hold a candle to how alcohol causes psychosis, & now apparently tobacco causes psychosis as well, & the odds of getting schizophrenia from nicotine are slightly higher than for cannabis. If people are going to use drugs recreationally or medicinally cannabis is actually less harmful than coffee, it has never killed anyone & is much safer than any other drug I can think of. It Isn’t something you’d particularly worry about people using. It isn’t even a drug really, it’s a herb.

If it was legal I wager many people would be happy just to use that & the majority of folk wouldn’t bother to use other drugs.
People who are stoned on cannabis are less likely to cause trouble in town & city centres on Fri/Sat nights, as it tends to make people feel peaceful & contemplative, unlike alcohol.

I’m not holding my breath for them to lift prohibition, but maybe in the future if people keep chipping away, & petitioning, maybe this plant will be liberated.

I think when it is finally set free, that good things will happen in the world, medicinally it can help with many ailments, including some forms of cancer. And because it has no overdose potential there is no fear of patients overdosing. They might get a whitey if they take too much & feel a bit anxious or paranoid, but it won’t harm them, just means they’ll probably not take so much in future. Being too stoned isn’t a medical emergency, unlike other medications that can poison you & cause biological harm – cannabis doesn’t cause any biological harm if you take too much. Nobody has ever died from using it.
That’s true as well, research it.

Caffeine & paracetamol have caused fatalities in people, but there are no recorded deaths as a direct result of using cannabis.

Not only is this plant good for medicine, but it can be used to make paper (which will help save trees & wildlife habitat.)

It can be used to make resilient eco friendly building materials, it’s stalks can be made into a superconductor as good as graphene, but a lot cheaper.

It can be used to make biological plastic that doesn’t harm the environment.

It can be used to make clothes & ropes.
It’s seeds are a nutritious food source for all animals.

It can be used as fuel, & there’s other uses I’ve read about but forgotten.

It may well be one of the most useful plants to humans on earth.

Profitable Incarceration

The privatisation of prison is one of the most evil acts of the British & American governments. These contracts state that the prisons must be at 90 – 95% capacity at all times. Judges get bribed to increase prison sentences, (Google the kid’s for cash scandal.)

The private companies who run prisons make a 500% profit, putting humans in cages & depriving them of their rights whilst forcing them to work in sweatshop conditions for £2 an hour has become a lucrative business. Not just for the corporations running the prisons, but the companies who can exploit prisoners for cheap Labour. It has become so lucrative even the big banks have taken notice & are investing in the private prison industry.

It is disgusting & evil. We in the West are despicable allowing this to happen. We the so called golden standard of civilization, Britain & America, we imprison more of our population than anywhere else in the world for non-violent harmless crimes. Often prisoners are kept in crap conditions, made to suffer hardships, just so these corporations can cut costs & make more of a profit.

These corporations, banks & our governments are disgusting twisted sick human beings.

This is the real reason cannabis isn’t legalized in Britain. It helps the government meet the obligations in their contract with private corporations to always ensure the prisons are filled to 90 – 95% capacity. I can imagine it won’t be long till people are imprisoned again for not being able to afford to pay their debts & for sleeping rough.

This is what the world is becoming. A dark evil soulless place where the love of money is the dominant religion & the fruits of that religion are exploitation, suffering, slavery, pollution, poverty, inequality, death & eventually extinction.

My view is prisons shouldn’t be privatized, this is one area the state shouldn’t shirk it’s responsibility, & prisons should treat prisoners well, why? Because by treating people with love, trust & respect, you are showing them why being like this makes society a better place. Cruelly punishing people, treating them like scum, forcing them to experience brutality & depravation, this just reinforces criminal behaviour & achieves nothing.

Britain & America are two of the most evil places to live in the world. How they criticize other nations for human rights abuses when they are some of the worst offenders is hypocrisy.

Just saying…

I will never feel proud of my country or love it, when there is evil like this going on. I’m not a capitalist & I’m not a communist, I am an environmental humanist. I am sick of how evil the world is. Enough is enough…

Britain & America should be ashamed of themselves, incarcerating people for profit is so low I can’t find an adequate word to describe how petulantly evil it is.

Will the mainstream media report on this? Where are the real journalists? It seems journalism has become nothing more than a mouthpiece for Corporate & Government sponsors. A spinning propaganda machine designed to keep the public thinking a certain way.

Britain, America, the EU – you want us to feel patriotic, then Danm well give us something to feel patriotic about. Something altruistic, something that does good, that makes the world a better more loving kinder place to live. Not this out of control corporate fascist evil that leaves behind it a trail of toxic suffering.

Exploitation of the world for profit. That isn’t what I believe in man. I want no part in this disgusting evil.

Just got to Grin & bear it… Find & hold onto some hope

Feeling low, have been feeling like this for the past week or so. I get these cycles, I go from euphoric to deep black depression. I prefer the euphoria, I tend to be more creative then, I find it hard to create anything when I’m sad; but I don’t hate the depression anymore. Although it is unpleasant & painful to go through, when I pull through the other side, it gives me inner strength & a resilience which adds something to creativity.

I am on an anti depressant called venlafaxine but after 5 years they have started to poop out, they don’t work anymore. I have tried to come off them but the withdrawal is bloody horrible. I have experienced opiate withdrawal after being addicted to prescribed opiates for 7 years, it was Hell, but I managed to get off the opiates with my doctor’s help. However the venlafaxine it is different, it doesn’t cause the same feeling as cold turkey, it creates a very strange unpleasant mental sensation, like your brain is full of tiny electric eels swimming about. Like an electrical appliance that keeps shorting out, or a lightbulb that keeps flickering on & off; it hurts your eyes to look at anything & the longer you go without, the more it feels like your brain is boiling, & it feels like if you don’t take another venlafaxine pill your head will explode or melt. It  makes it impossible to concentrate on anything or think, you feel like a zombie craving a venlafaxine tablet to take away this unpleasant weird sensation in your head. I’ve tried slowly cutting down the dose, I’m on the max dose at the moment, but every time I try to come off the stuff I fail.

Don’t get me wrong it saved my life, if I hadn’t gone on it when I did I might not be here today. It helped lift me from the pit of despair, but now I think my body has grown tolerant of it & I might talk to my doctor in the autumn to try & get off it.

Not everyone understands depression, it can be a real bastard. It isn’t just about taking control of your thoughts & being able to snap out of it. It is something else all together. It is like a crazed wild beast that comes out of nowhere & for no reason starts attacking you. You feel oppressed & it isn’t something you can positively think yourself out of. Meditation & mindfulness can help you ride the wave, but these practices don’t make the wave go away.

I don’t know if it is the world making me feel heavy, the evil shit going on with these sick twisted corporate arseholes who seem intent on destroying everything. I sometimes wonder if what I’m feeling is what the earth is collectively feeling.

I look in an animals eyes & they don’t judge me. I get on better with animals than I do with people.

People frighten me.

The Hypocrisy of the War on Drugs

When I used to smoke it, I knew nothing about cannabis. I haven’t touched it for ten years now, but lately the only pain relief I have is paracetamol. I was prescribed opiates, but the doctor weaned me off those cause they gave me really nasty analgesic headache. However there isn’t anything as effective to replace them. I can’t take ibuprofen cause it has a bad effect on me, causes bleeding in my stomach, same goes for aspirin. I don’t even bother with paracetamol anymore cause it doesn’t do anything unless I have a cold. The anti-depressants & the baclofen don’t help much, somebody suggested to me I try cannabis to see if that helps.

I haven’t done so yet, I’ve just been researching it, the more I read, the more it seems to have amazing medicinal value. Sativex is not available here due to the cost, so the only way to try it is to get it off the black market, but it’s hard to know what you’re getting, what the THC & CBD levels are, or if it has glass or iron filings in it (some dealers put this crap in to add to the weight of the buds.) It is really frustrating, cause if it was legal I could purchase or grow the strain I need without worrying about quality. Most weed on the street will have very high THC levels with little or no CBD, whilst THC is useful medically, it isn’t as effective for pain relief & spasticity unless it has some CBD in it as well. Interestingly CBD is also an anti-psychotic, & it helps to protect against the possible negative psychological effects of THC. Kind of ironic really, with all the media scare stories about cannabis, that it actually contains a compound which protects people against psychosis & is why people breeding cannabis should be very careful about increasing THC levels. This is because the plant can’t produce high levels of both, so if you breed it to increase THC it will produce less CBD.

So at the moment I’m considering selling some belongings to take a holiday to Amsterdam where I can try the strain of cannabis I think might help me. If it improves my condition & helps me, then I think we will sell this flat & move there.

I really dislike politicians, I wish they’d stop being such draconian arseholes & just legalize it. The whole war on drugs is ridiculous. If you ban substances because of harm, then you should ban alcohol, coffee & tobacco as well. To keep these three legal whilst criminalizing the other drugs is just hypocrisy & creates more crime & turns the police against communities they should be protecting, not persecuting.

In fact it’s total hypocrisy. If you’re going to ban something cause of concerns about harm, then you should ban horse riding like David Nutt suggests, ban hang gliding, anything dangerous; hell more people die from crossing the road than they do from cannabis, ban roads & cars…

This whole recreational vs medical argument is hypocritical as well. Saying it isn’t OK to use drugs recreationally, when millions of people, (politicians & police included,) go out drinking alcoholic drinks for recreational fun every weekend.

Alcohol can really screw up people’s lives, is addictive, can be overdosed on & causes far more harm than cannabis does. You can die on alcohol & ruin your liver, none of this happens with cannabis. These prohibition laws in the UK are stupid & just create crime, not prevent it.

Another thing is the rise of legal synthetic drugs, which are even more harmful than the banned substances, I think people would be less likely to use these if cannabis was legal, why would they want to bother with spice or bathsalts, when they can safely & legally get cannabis which is far less harmful?

Another silly myth is that cannabis is a gateway drug. In Amsterdam they became more tolerant of cannabis & allowed it to be sold & consumed in coffee shops, this brought down the use of hard drugs. One of the reasons people move onto other drugs is cause dealers often sell them as well as cannabis, or because somebody can’t get hold of cannabis. I mean you could argue the same about tobacco & alcohol being gateway drugs, it’s a totally daft argument that carries no scientific proof.

Politicians also argue they don’t want to legalize it because they don’t want to send out the wrong message. This is hypocrisy because they’ve been sending out the wrong message for a much more harmful drug for years – alcohol. Some politicians seem to have their hands permanently glued to a pint glass.

Anyone who argues prohibition works is living in a different reality. Every day tonnes of drugs reach the UK, customs doesn’t catch them all, so many drugs are in the UK, that they can’t even keep them out of prison. If they can’t stop drugs reaching people in prison, then what chance do they have of stopping them reaching towns & cities in Britain. All prohibition does is make drug use more dangerous, creates more crime, funds mafias, & turns addicts & people using cannabis to help with chronic health conditions into criminals.

The way most governments of the world treat cannabis & get so hysterical about controlling it; you’d think it was a dangerous nuclear missile or something, not a plant. To my knowledge in the long history of use, 4000+years it hasn’t killed anyone, apparently even the buddha used it regularly. This odd behaviour by governments, & the fear of a fairly harmless plant is bewildering. Like David Nutt says, the biggest harm you can get from cannabis is a criminal record. Yeah there’s a potential for abuse, but that same potential applies to tea & coffee, & people have died from caffeine addiction. If it is legal & accepted in society, then people who find they have a habit that’s out of control can go & get help from a doctor, like you do with alcohol or tobacco. Under prohibition, people addicted to anything illegal will avoid going to a doctor for help from fear of getting a criminal record. Most cannabis users can use it sensibly without any problems, just like people who drink alcohol.

In Colorado all the bad things people said would happen with cannabis legalization, haven’t. People are generally sensible in their use of it, same as people in general are sensible with alcohol. But unlike alcohol, it has reduced crime, (obviously, cause the police aint busting cannabis growers anymore there,) but it has also reduced gun crime, increased taxes, which has been put back into education & increased employment, & made people in general happier.Cannabis is looking as if it will be legalised across the whole of the US & possibly Canada in the next five years.

Is really frustrating the UK still won’t grow up about the crazy war on drugs. I’ve heard it is because the drinks industry has a huge lobby & actually bribes ministers to keep cannabis illegal, because it fears losing profits.

The UK drugs policy is nothing to do with science… Just makes me feel so frustrated that the only way to use a medication that might help me is to move to another country, the UK as usual is just about politicians putting their fingers in their ears & saying they’re right & everyone else is wrong & nothing is going to change.

The UK will just drag it’s heels, because the drinks industry & the tabloids are too powerful.

I’ll probably be in my 80’s before they finally legalize it & die of a heart attack from the shock…
